Setthorns in February

Setthorns is one of our favourite bolt holes in the New Forest situated near Sway it offers plenty of walking or cycling as well as being in the heart of the New Forest it is ideally situated for visiting many of the South Coast attractions.

Sway is a short walk from the site at Setthorns and has a shop as well as a butchers, the butchers produce plenty of camper friendly food to cater for all tastes, kebabs, burger, sausages or a full blown joint to roast you just have to decide what you want.

The pitches are hard standing and the site is open all year.

The weather was quite cold and although it had snowed it was not thick but did add to the charm of the daily walk.

The tracks are hard underfoot but venture off them and the ground can be quite soft and muddy, we chose to stay on the firm side.

One of the attractions of the New Forest is the diverse wildlife that pops up from time to time, this cheeky chap just happened along to empty the bird feeder we had put out, not sure what species of bird he is!
